Volunteer Opportunities

Oakland youth need caring and dedicated volunteers from varied backgrounds and interests to supplement the work of our professional staff. We need volunteers to assist in the following capacities at our Clubhouses.

  • Assist with coordinating “The Brain Factory” activities where members learn to value education through tutoring, homework help, remediation, and enrichment.

  • At-risk students are paired with mentors to form a protégé relationship to guide them towards success.

  • We want our youth to hear success stories for them to dream big! We invite influencing speakers to speak regarding setting SMART goals, college preparation, career choices, leadership, and preparing for world outside of school.

  • As Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland expands its services to as many deserving youths of Oakland, we want to ensure safe travels for the youths who are located far from our Clubs. To that end, BGCO invites volunteer drivers to drive to ensure students are picked up from school and are sent home safely!

  • Our Health and Physical Education Program invites volunteers coaches and trainers to coordinate physical activities for the kids!

  • Participate in BGCO’s Health Screenings where kids receive physical exams and periodic dental, vision, and hearing tests and referrals.
