Boys & Girls Clubs of Oakland (BGCO) hosted a very special event dedicated to the most important job many of us have–raising the future generation of leaders, dreamers, and innovators–our children.

On Sunday, November 9th, the author of the critically acclaimed book, BoyMom, came to BGCO for an exclusive interview and discussion which included brunch and free childcare.

This was not a book talk—it was a direct extension of BGCO's mission to foster Good Character & Citizenship in our children and youth. The challenges facing young boys, girls, and non-conforming children are complex, and we are committed to providing the resources that help them thrive in an ever-evolving world.

What the event entailed:

Expert Insight:

Laila Dreidame, BGCO's VP of Development, sat down with the author to discuss practical strategies for navigating topics like emotional intelligence, defining success, positive masculinity, and building resilience in boys from elementary age through high school.

Community Connection:

Other dedicated parents, mentors, and community members who are passionate about investing in the next generation of leaders in Oakland gathered together for this event.

This conversation was vital for every parent, mentor, and leader committed to raising children and youth into healthy, well-adjusted people.
